JD Classics is celebrating another successful Mille Miglia finish with 15 cars campaigned and supported in the 1,000-mile Brescia-Rome-Brescia event. Even with an extra day added to the event this year, JD Classics’ expert technicians took the whole event in their stride. And with brilliant organisation plus a stunning route, the event has been hailed one of the best yet. The dream line-up of classic machinery included nine Jaguar Heritage Racing cars driven by stars from motor racing, fashion and film, along with a further six cars owned by JD Classics itself or run on behalf of customers. Over the four-day, 1,000-mile endurance rally, JD Classics supported these 15 cars with over 30 expert technicians, who worked day and night to keep them in first-class condition. Bentley celebrates strong finish at Mille Miglia
This year’s Mille Miglia challenge, which involved hundreds of classic cars from across the world attempt to complete a gruelling 4-day and 1700km drive through Italy, saw Bentley Motors secure its best position to date with one of the company’s iconic 4 ½ Litre supercharged Bentley Blowers. Rolf Frech, Bentley’s Member of the Board for Engineering and Jerome D’Ambrosio, finished in 73rd position out of the 438 cars that took part; the best result achieved by Bentley to date and also one of the highest British finishers. Rolf Frech comments: “Once again Mille Miglia proved to be a real test of every driver’s stamina and ability. With the flag about to drop on the 2014 Mille Miglia, Jaguar Heritage Racing is revving up for 1,000 miles of high-speed driving through Italy – led by Martin Brundle and Bruno Senna, who are piloting a genuine piece of Coventry history. Ex-Jaguar Le Mans and World Sports Prototype Championship winner, Formula 1 driver and SKY F1 TV pundit Brundle along with ex-Formula 1 racer Bruno Senna are sharing the famous ‘Long Nose’ Jaguar D-type. Bentley Blowers primed for classic Mille Miglia challenge
Bentley Motors is competing in Mille Miglia 2014 (15-18 May) with two of the company’s famous 4 ½ Litre supercharged ‘Blowers’ taking on the 1,700 km route. The 1930 Le Mans ‘Team Car’ once owned by Sir Henry ‘Tim’ Birkin, one of the most celebrated members of a group of British gentlemen racers known as the Bentley Boys, will be joined by a former company demonstrator Blower with its original Vanden Plas Open, Sports Four Seater body for this renowned race. Even after nine decades on the road, this second Blower continues to delight customers and guests from around the world with demonstration drives during visits to Bentley’s Crewe Headquarters. Today, Bentley unveiled its vision of a more powerful and even more efficient future with the global debut of the Bentley Hybrid Concept at the Beijing International Automotive Show. The luxury car brand also presents three Chinese debuts at the Show – the new Flying Spur V8, the new Continental GT Speed and GT V8 S. The Bentley Hybrid Concept is based on the flagship model, the Mulsanne, showing that hybrid technology can enhance even the pinnacle of luxury and performance. Copper is used as an exterior and interior styling element to highlight the car’s electrical veins from accents to the radiator grille and headlamps to copper cross stitching throughout the car’s elegant leather cabin. The dramatic advertisement produced to launch the new Jaguar F-TYPE Coupé, and made famous through its debut television appearance during Superbowl XLVII this year, was broadcast in the UK for the first time last night during the half-time break of the UEFA Champions League match between Manchester United and Bayern Munich. More than 2.2 million viewers saw the advertisement during this coveted spot. The advertisement will continue to run in a mixture of one minute and 30-second executions throughout April and May on networks including ITV1, Channel 4 and Sky Atlantic. A special two-minute version of the advertisement, which is directed by Oscar-winner Tom Hooper, and features Sir Ben Kingsley, Tom Hiddleston and Mark Strong, will be shown in a selection of picture houses and cinemas during April and May, in screenings prior to blockbuster films including ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ and ‘Captain America’.
